As the baker of the Netherlands, Market Food Group sees it as its responsibility to actively contribute to a future-proof food chain. Through this collaboration, the company invests in regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming practices. In 2025, 25% of the wheat for ’t Stoepje brand will already come from sustainable sources. This share will increase by 25% annually, with the goal of transitioning fully within four years.

Concrete steps in 2024

In 2024, the company mapped its entire CO₂ footprint, joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and switched to 100% green electricity. It also introduced several honest and innovative products, such as high-protein wholegrain bread and gluten-free offerings. Investing in new Heuft ovens greatly improved energy efficiency and baking consistency, reducing waste and CO₂ emissions through smart heat recovery and hybrid heating systems.

Responsibility in the supply chain

Wheat accounts for 36% of the scope 3 emissions in raw materials. Market Food Group is therefore choosing to make a change at the source. Participating farmers use targeted fertilization, soil-preserving techniques, and biodiversity-friendly measures. The goal: 50% reduction in CO₂ emissions and a more resilient agricultural system by 2030.
