New harvest information Aug. 31, 2023

Per usual, please find an update on the latest developments regarding the 2023 harvest below. Significant amounts of grain have already been harvested, but harvesting is not progressing as well in some regions due to unstable weather.

However, initial reports on this year’s wheat harvest are positive. Dossche Mills has already received various batches of wheat, which we will incorporate into our blends in the near future. The quality of the harvested wheat is good, with good falling numbers (no germinated wheat), making it suitable for all uses. The harvest also looks promising in terms of mycotoxins and hectolitre weight (and related grindability). However, this may change if the rains persist.

It is too early to assess the new crops' other characteristics and how these will affect our processing recommendations.

Below is Dossche Mills' anticipated harvest transition schedule for standard wheat flour and wheat flour varieties. Please note that this does not include special varieties, such as cake and rye flour.

We will keep you updated on further developments and are ready to answer any questions you may have.
